Employment
Labour relations in the Republic of Moldova are governed by the Labour Code No. 154/2003, which regulates employees’ and employers’ rights and obligations, employment contracts, working and rest time, remuneration, and occupational safety and health.
Individual employment contracts must be concluded in writing, generally for an indefinite duration. As of 1 January 2026, contracts must include detailed information on job duties, qualifications, pay components, occupational risks, and working time.
The probation period may be up to 3 months, or up to 6 months for managerial positions.
For 2025, the national minimum wage is 5,500 MDL per month (approx. 32.54 MDL/hour), and employers cannot offer a salary below this threshold.
Recent amendments introduce a legal framework for temporary agency work (Law No. 193/2025) and explicit rules on preventing violence and harassment at the workplace (Law No. 194/2025).
Compliance with labour legislation is overseen by the State Labour Inspectorate, trade unions, and the courts.
