Patents, Trademarks and Copyrights

The legal framework governing intellectual property in the Republic of Moldova is comprehensive and includes regulations on the protection of trademarks, inventions (patents), industrial designs, plant varieties, geographical indications, copyright, and related rights.

The State Agency for Intellectual Property (AGEPI) is the central authority responsible for promoting, administering, and ensuring the legal protection of intellectual property rights, covering both industrial property and copyright/related rights.

The Republic of Moldova is a party to the main international treaties administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), ensuring that national legislation is aligned with international standards and providing rights holders with a strengthened framework for the protection, recognition, and enforcement of their intellectual property rights.
